I've seen a lot of people talk about how "gaming is dying" and that there's "nothing fun to play" so I figured I'd help them out and give them some solid recommendations on what to play (or what not to play) with a little explanation about my scoring system at the bottom. I'm constantly adding new games too so feel free to check back often!
5/5 (Absolute must play)
4/5 (Enjoyed it a lot)
3/5 (Worth your time)
2/5 (Wasted potential)
1/5 (This game sucks)
Extra: Games I just don't like
Little explanation of the scoring system
- 5/5 (Absolute must play): When I say "absolute must play", I mean it. These games are my highest recommendation and genre definers in their class with very few things 'wrong' with them. Unlike IGN I don't hand out 9's and 10's to any game that's just "good", it really has to knock my socks off for it to be in this category.
- 4/5 (Enjoyed it a lot): These are really solid experiences with usually just a couple flaws holding them back. I feel like this is where most of the games I play end up ranking, but that's certainly not a bad thing!
- 3/5 (Worth your time): I like to use this category for games with a fair amount of flaws and distractions, but still a fun and enjoyable experience overall, hence "worth your time". I value your time and this category and upwards are the only games that I would actively recommend to people.
- 2/5 (Wasted potential): I like to use this category for games which have some strong and compelling aspects to them, but don't hold up as an overall package. I think "wasted potential" is a perfect fit for this category because it's 100% how I feel about them. It makes me sad scoring a game like this because I'd much rather it be a 3 or 4.
- 1/5 (This game sucks): Unfortunately to have your "best in class", you gotta have your "worst in class". These games just suck, and are so full of flaws that I wouldn't even give them a 2/5 on a good day. While a 5/5 is a shining example of "what to do with a video game", these are amazing examples that will echo throughout the ages of what NOT to do.
- Extra: Games I just don't like: Experimental category that I might just get rid of, I just wanted a place to put games I strongly dislike without actually scoring them (i.e. League of Legends). Playing any of these games usually costs your mental health.
