Mega Man X

I love this game and, despite not have been a SNES era kid, still had the pleasure of growing up with it. An evolution of the classic Mega Man games from the NES, Mega Man X is a love letter to what made the games good in the first place, while improving them leaps and bounds with new systems such as the dash, being able to charge your special weapons, armor parts, heart tanks and tons of other fun secrets. The gameplay is best in class, the soundtrack is iconic, and as basic as the story is it still flows very well in the narrative and pacing of the game.

This game easily has a place in my favorite games of all time, and is definitely my favorite SNES games. If you enjoy platformers (especially metroidvanias, even if this isn't really one), I can't recommend it enough. You can pick it up on Steam in Part 1 of the X collection, or you can just pick up a copy of the SNES original.
